In case anyone cares, I just addressed the "China preventing Buddha reincarnation" issue over on my pro blog. (I'm just getting started over there, so if you visit, probably best to not subscribe yet. I've not yet migrated to feedburner.)

It might be as fun to read as it was to write. If not, my apologies.

Just a quick note to folks.

There seems to be a credit/debit card attack going around that is resulting in false charges appearing on people's statements from "VIP TUNE LIMASSOL". There is a lot of rampant online speculation that is likely unwarranted. A common thread seems to be cards used in Internet transactions, but given that it's being reported on the net that would be a common thread anyway.

The important thing is to just check your statements for July and August, and make sure that all charges are legitimate. I caught it on one of my cards, so I know it's real.

Anyway, if it hit you but you catch it early, it likely won't affect you too much. In the US anyway, erroneous credit charges can generally be waived without penalty (though you'll have to fill out paperwork). Direct bank transactions, however, can be trickier. In some states (including mine), the amount for which you are responsible can be time-based, so it might be good to check.

I plan to check my other accounts in the morning, as it's not worth losing sleep over. However, as ignoring it could be bad, I wanted to pop a quick note out to people before I went to bed.

Good luck.
