Last of Red River Zoo

Here is the last of the highlights from the Red River Zoo set.

Unlike the first set of highlights, these were taken in the morning. You might notice a difference in the quality of the lighting... but if I did my editing job right, you won't. ;)






Toads are bumpy. Frogs are sticky. Now you know.


Both frog and toad lips, however, are sticky.

Why do squirrels always look startled?! I love that photo. Also all the tongues. And the positively gelatinous frog is amazing.

Because they know that the camera is either good to eat or something that must be fled from.

They're just not sure which.

Was the frog that gelatinous in person?

Slimy and sticky, yes.

I think that the gelatinitude is due largely to do the puffy fingers, which I did not notice in person.

There are a lot of attributes that I only see when I'm processing the photos, but once I notice them, I start seeing them in "real life" when I'm doing the photos.

Not just the puffy fingers, but the whole face--although, as you point out, both toads and frogs have sticky mouths.
