Snake Interpretation

Earlier this month, I got to return to the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum. I took my camera (set here), but more importantly, they had a short class.

That's right! I learned how to speak snake. The rest of this post consists of some basic translations, in case you ever need them.



Arizona Black Rattlesnake (Crotalus cerberus)_1

Interpretation: "I say, my dear fellow, would you kindly pass the marmalade."


Rosy Boa (Lichanura trivirgata)
Rosy Boa (Lichanura trivirgata) - "Hiiiissssssss"

Interpretation: "I have ordered a small bowry from a kind seller on Etsy. Once it arrives, I trust that I shall look most afternoonified."

Vine Snake - HHHHiiiiiiissssssssssssss

Interpretation: "I did attempt to answer your missive the other night, but I was half-rats at the time. Writing is quite a fifteen puzzle in that state. To think I should sus it out is enough to make a stuffed bird laugh."

Sonoran Desert Sidewinder (Crotalus cerastes cercobombus) - Hiiiissssssssss

Interpretation: "So sorry to seem an anorak, but the sultana vines on your ickle mews are harming your mortar and will soon drive you spare. May want to get that sorted."

Interpretation: "used to refer to a thing or things belonging to or associated with a male person or animal previously mentioned."
