It's been a hard few weeks. Seems like workload and heath issues inevitably coincide, and with the weather being as it's been, I've not been able to go outside and relax much. Luckily, I'm making some progress, just not as much as I'd like. I hope to get more caught up this week.
I did realize that I went to the Zoo after hours a while ago, and have some photos that I've not shared with everyone. I took these ones trying for certain effects* and I used my new larger viewfinder. It worked, but was harder than it's been in the past. I hope to get behind my camera tonight and run through some basic exercises in preparation for a future project. (set)
* If anyone actually wants me to discuss the various photo techniques that I'm playing with, let me know. I learned a while ago to not bore folks with tech talk, and I think that applies to photography tech too. I think most of you just want to see the fuzzy animals. :)

Black-tailed Prairie Dog (Cynomys ludovicianus) - My new viewfinder allows me to focus better. That's why you can see the dirt on his whiskers.

Ring-tailed Lemur (Lemur catta) - "I bring you gift of leaf." "No thanks, I has tail to eat." (I submitted this to ICanHasCheezburgr, but I don't think they're going to use it).

Snow Leopard (Panthera uncia) - Can *you* stick out your tongue and touch your nose?

Reticulated Giraffe (Giraffa camelopardalis reticulata) - This is what a happy giraffe looks like

Baby Rabbit - This little rabbit was left behind when it's parent fled the giraffe. I hope it's OK.

Seal - I was trying to get a shot of the sparkling water and the seal. The seal came out somewhat under-exposed, which I should have anticipated. This is the best shot I got.

Laughing Kookaburra (Dacelo novaeguineae) - The aviary at the Blank Park Zoo is somewhat small, so it's very hard to isolate a bird and not see the gridwork behind them.
