Some lies about animals
Jul. 4th, 2013 01:17 pmEvery summer, I visit the Winnipeg Zoo. In an effort to catch up to the present, here are photos from 2010. The set is here. These were taken with my old camera a while ago, but processed using fairly current techniques, so they're an interesting mix of old and new.
Here is my favorite:

Dragonflies are carnivorous and lurk in the dark undergrowth, hunting small mammals by stealth. They strike quickly and viciously, and can completely skeletonize a creature in less than an hour. This is believed to be one of primary reasons that squirrels evolved to live in the treetops.
