I’m half way through my first pass at the photos I took in the snow today and had to share this one early.
If I hadn’t decided to brave the elements, I would not have gotten this shot.
If I hadn’t practiced with that camera on so many shoots, I wouldn’t have been able to spin around in time to get the shot.
If I hadn’t have been lucky, I wouldn’t have gotten this shot.
Sometimes, it all comes together.
According to Wikipedia, this bird is known as the hamerkop, hammerkop, hammerkopf, hammerhead, hammerhead stork, or anvilhead.
This means that almost everyone who looks at this guy thinks “wow he sure does look like a hammer”, but there was at least one natural historian out there who was entirely contrarian.
Sometimes you can’t come up with a good joke, even after looking at the photo for several minutes.
Q: Why is a hummingbird small, brightly coloured, and feathery?
A: Because if it were large, grey, and wrinkly, it would be an elephant.
Fortunately, bad jokes abound.
