I finally figured out how to deal with the photo database crash from a few months ago... so I can start posting photos again. This is the set from the Minnehaha Falls, taken on July 18th.

It is worth noting that I was not set up for the sort of high-speed macro stuff that I wanted to do. Next time I'll try to do better.

This would have looked SO cool if I had had my tripod and a few light stands with me.

I'm just croggled that there are little freshwater lobsters, under whatever name variant people prefer, living here! That's so cool!

(I've also grepped through many drops of pond water with a microscope, as a child, without ever finding anything beyond the most mundane things. I seem to have a modest talent for not finding wildlife.)

I love these! Droplet! Crayfish! You are the best! If it were not for my broken ankle I'd be off to the Falls this moment. Do visit again, maybe spring when the falls are rushing?

Nifty!

Can you make stereopticon inserts?

I haven't tried finding stuff in pond water for more than 40 years now, I'm pretty sure. I don't remember exactly where my samples came from. It seems entirely logical to me NOW that I shouldn't be trying to get "clean water" out of the pond when I'm looking for stuff in it, but I wouldn't promise I would have thought that way back then.
