Was it necessary to place an ad on my paid LJ account telling me that if I take the two weeks trial of the paid account, I can avoid ads?

That usually only happens to me when I end up not actually signed in to LJ, all unbeknownst to me...

I was and am.

What's particularly annoying is that they probably track whether I closed the ad with a cookie, and since I don't store the things, it'll probably just keep coming back. I'll probably have to write a rule in AdBlock to kill it.

I find screening them seems to act as a partial deterrent, and at least that way only I get to see the ones that do get placed...
