Things I learned today.

• Muskrats make noises like ducks


• Otters make noises like birds


• Bobcats swish their tails back and forth before they pounce, even though their tails are veryvery short


• Driving 1.5 hours at night alone is no problem at all


• Driving 2 hours at night alone is quite difficult


• Sushi in Omaha leaves much to be desired


• Seven hours is not enough time to see the Desert, Night, Jungle, and Aquarium displays at the Omaha zoo


• The Antiquarian (book store) in Omaha is leaving Omaha by September


• Listening to Joseph Campbell on mp3 in the car is neat, for 1.5 hours


• 2 hours of Joseph Campbell is too much


• Horseshoe crabs swim upside down


• Day trips can be tiring

I was just at the Omaha zoo a few weekends ago. We got a membership. It's 90 minutes away but it's the closest zoo to Sioux City. I'd love to meet you there sometime. I think that that would be fun.
However, you need to know that I'm a little bit, well, nuts.

When I go to zoos, I am there from open to close, spend what most people think is way too long at each exhibit, and often forget to eat. I'm similar in bookstores, actually.

When I lived in NYC I zooed like that - well - not the eating part - I need to eat - but I always tried to keep the time used to a minimum.

Since moving out here I've discovered that I wasn't going b/c I could seem to get myself out of bed in time to make it there by opening time. So I've started cutting myself some slack.

I will spend long times at an exhibit that I'm particularly interested in. So it might work that we hang out the whole time - tho I'm also open to going our own ways and hooking up as it works out. JRob wants to do some IMaxing next time we are there - so we've already decided we will do some seperate things.

But going on the same day you are there and hanging out together some of the day sounds great! If you think that could fit with your zoo style I'd definitely be up for it and ... (checking) JRob is too. :)
