I'm happy about it too. I've never seen the new actor in anything, and had my hopes up for Tilda Swinton ('cause who wouldn't), but she seems a fine choice.
What's particularly interesting is if you compare her IMDB page to the last several people who have played the Doctor. She's worked at least twice as hard as everyone else so maybe ... just maybe ... she won't quit after a couple of years because TV is "too hard".
