I'm pretty sure it's "sheveled," but probably a joke went over my head while I was being overly pedantic.

The only really tidy bird that I know of is the cedar waxwing.

I waffled on that. I can see dishevelled coming from either dis-hevelled or dis-shevelled. I decided the former was funnier.
