Minnesota Zoo - Tiger, tracks, monkey
Feb. 13th, 2008 08:05 pmContinuing the Minnesota Zoo set. This set of highlights contains a the afore-promised story of me being attacked by a tiger. Highlights follow:

Tracks and Ice - In the winter in Minnesota, it gets cold. It gets cold enough for lakes to freeze. Then it snows. Then bunnies come out and play on the frozen lake!

Siberian tiger (Panthera tigris altaica) - Tiger + snow is oh so pretty.

Siberian tiger (Panthera tigris altaica) - Shortly after I took this photo, I leaned on the glass to take a shot of the other tiger. I hear people behind me gasp and I swing around just in time to see this tiger less than a foot away from me, leaping at me. Her claws came out, and she slashed at my head. Luckily, there was inch-thick glass between us. Moral of the story: don't turn your back to a tiger.

Japanese Macaque (Macaca fuscata) - Future flutist. (According to the OED, "flutist" (1603) is older than flautist (1860), so that's what I use.)
