Blank Park Zoo - swan, snow leopard, robin, birds, sloth, sea horse, otters

Earlier this month, I did a quick photo tour of my local zoo. Sorry, I haven't shared these yet... I got distracted by kitten week.

Black Swan (Cygnus atratus) - "gotta make a nest gotta make a nest gotta make a nest gotta...."
More seriously, the female swan was on the nest, and the male (here) was gathering more nesting material. It seemed a nice division of labour


Snow Leopard (Uncia uncia) - "Hmm, I wonder if my spots taste like chocolate...."

American Robin (Turdus migratorius) - "I has a dinner!"


Birds - When two birds squabble over a mealworm, the only thing certain is that the mealworm will lose.


Two Toed Sloth (Choloepus hoffmanni) - They're even cuter in black and white!


Sea Horse (Hippocampus *) - "Psst, buddy, wanna buy a watch? It's waterproof."

North American Bullfrog (Rana catesbeiana) - This is exactly the sort of frog that I wanted to catch as a kid... and didn't live in our creek.

These are all wonderful. Love the sloth, love the otter-on-otter action. The comment about the chocolate spots made me literally LOL.

Curiously, hbruton posted some zoo shots yesterday, but they're definitely of the "It's still Winter" variety. (Oh, more today!)
