Minnesota Zoo - Monkeys and Humans
Jan. 7th, 2009 04:33 pmOn a recent trip to Minneapolis, I got to go to the zoo again (I'm sure you're shocked). This was most of a social outing, so I didn't focus on the photography... but that doesn't mean that I didn't take pictures. The set is here.
This is one of the few times I that took photos of humans too.

Japanese Macaque (Macaca fuscata) - Walrus FAIL.

Japanese Macaque (Macaca fuscata) - The period of the monkey's swing is proportional to the square root of the length of the monkey's arms. . . You know, in case you actually cared.

Japanese Macaque (Macaca fuscata) - Grumpy monkey!

Red-rumped Agouti (Dasyprocta agouti) - The last photo from the Phoenix Mars lander. NASA says it's a rock.

Pygmy Slow Loris (Nycticebus pygmaeus) - Don't want to just cuddle him? Did you know that their elbows are toxic? Still want to cuddle him?

Pygmy Slow Loris (Nycticebus pygmaeus) - Loris tongue!

Human (Homo sapiens) - This zoo animal didn't have a sign, but, like the birds in this part of the zoo, had clearly escaped his enclosure and was allowed roam freely along the trail.

Human Family (Homo sapiens) - Unlike many species, humans often form family units that retain social ties even after the children are grown.

Human Family (Homo sapiens) - Also unlike many other species, humans are capable of imagining the way that photographs of them may be captioned in the near future.

Human (Homo sapiens) - Some humans, of course, are more interested in otters.
