Concluding my recent Minnesota Zoo set.




Coyote (Canis latrans) - The best way to decorate your coyote is with a bit of snow on the nose.


Wolf (Canis lupus) - You can decorate wolves the same way.


Wolverine (Gulo gulo) - Trying to be a canid... failing.


Wolverine (Gulo gulo) - "Got your nose!" . . . "Not for long!"


Wolverine (Gulo gulo) - OK, that's just gotta hurt.


Seahorse (Hippocampus ...) - Sometimes it's sad being a seahorse.


Grizzly Bear (Ursus arctos horribilis) - Thhhhbbbbttttt!

The Austin zoo recently acquired a wolf-dog mix, and it looked like a coyote to me. Seeing your wolf and coyote photos right together makes me think that's not as crazy as I originally thought.

Why DO seahorses look sad? Is it the way they hold their heads?

We have a new baby gorilla at the National Zoo! (And they gave a tiger a root canal today!)
