Remember weeks and weeks ago when I started posting photos from the Tacoma zoo? Then we all got distracted by otters? Then we got distracted by different otters?

Well, now we're going to finish the set highlights (which means that I better get captioning my other sets I can upload and share those, I guess).

dsc_8552.jpg
Walrus (Odobenus rosmarus) - "I must say, I dislike the constant depiction of us as bukkit-obsessed behemoths. Fact is, the majority of us are quite capable of emotionally handling ourselves whether or not we lack a container."

dsc_8558.jpg
Walrus (Odobenus rosmarus) - One hour later, the parents reported their child as missing.

dsc_8594.jpg
Tufted Puffin (Fratercula cirrhata) - You just don't get that nice refraction effect without practice.

dsc_8595.jpg
Tufted Puffin (Fratercula cirrhata) - Yeah. Timing.

dsc_8651.jpg
Tufted Puffin (Fratercula cirrhata) - If I had a beak, I'd want it to glow too.

dsc_8680.jpg
Tufted Puffin (Fratercula cirrhata) - She swam into my office and I knew things were about to get interesting. There was a scent about her. Was it trouble? Was it herring? I knew there was only one way to find out. I took the case.

dsc_9458.jpg
Meerkat (Suricata suricata) - "One of these days I shall soar upon the wings of eagles. Step 1: get an eagle to come down here."

dsc_9470.jpg
Meerkat (Suricata suricata) - And then Mother Nature said "Oh shoot, I have all these leftover whiskers"...

dsc_9931.jpg
Jellyfish - "Wheeeee!"

dsc_0008.jpg
Mountain - Dark and foreboding. Forebode, dammit!

Speaking of zoos, did you read about the zoo train derailment in Louisville?

Yes, me too. The last time <Sister-In-Law> rode the train with <Niece>, she reported it to be a harrowing ride.

If you ever visit the Louisville Zoo, be sure to track down their free-range peacock. I imagine its plumage would photograph very well.

Absolutely beautiful photos. The whiskery meerkat reminds me of my kitty.

I thought jellyfish were soft, gooshy, and kind of stingy...
