Winnipeg Folk Festival - Enoch Kent
Aug. 17th, 2009 10:49 amWow, I've gotten behind on my planned postings. I'm going to try to speed it up a bit.
Enoch Kent does traditional Irish songs. As is often the case, the songs were all ones I had heard before, and he didn't perform them particularly spectacularly. There wasn't any special angle to make the old feel new. However, he was very good at storytelling. He was able to hold the audience's attention for the hour, though I did find myself wishing that he'd finish up the song and get to the next story.
I wouldn't pick up any of his CDs, but I'd probably go see him live again, and if I somehow happened across him in a pub, I'd buy him a drink and listen to him tell stories of his youth.
Photos are below, but the light and his complexion didn't really match up very well.
