Last of the Red River Zoo set.

White-naped Crane (Grus vipio) 0003
White-naped Crane (Grus vipio) - Yeah! How's THAT for timing?

Bunny
Bunny - I have been informed that bunnies are lucky. This particular bunny is lucky to live at a zoo.

Meerkat (Suricata suricatta)
Meerkat (Suricata suricatta) - Lots of people seem to like this shot. Lots of views for a photo that's not even in a group yet.

Red Panda (Ailurus fulgens)
Red Panda (Ailurus fulgens) - Go on, guess where the red panda is.

Red Panda (Ailurus fulgens)
Red Panda (Ailurus fulgens) - If he looks rumpled, it's because they just had three babies, he's exiled to the tree, and it's raining.

Duck 0002
Duck - One of these rocks is not a rock... and is thirsty.

Takin (Budorcas taxicolor)
Takin (Budorcas taxicolor) - Rock. Hard Place. Not much between.

Duck 0005
Duck - Three years after the accident, I sit here. The rain falls around me, making a soft *plop* *plop* noise. Thinking about my previous life, my career, my family, I look into the water at my reflection. Still a duck."

North American Porcupine (Erethizon dorsatum) 0004
North American Porcupine (Erethizon dorsatum) - "Approach no closer, mortal"

Black-tailed Prairie Dog (Cynomys ludovicianus) 0001
Black-tailed Prairie Dog (Cynomys ludovicianus) - His momma is going to be SO upset.

I think the meerkat should be "souricata", because they are always smiling.:)

The last 4 are particularly wonderful.

In amongst the bundle of cuteness and interest, there's always one (often more) picture in each of your sets that makes me 'oooh' like a fan girl during a celebrity sighting. My current crush is the red panda... especially wearing a 'last nerve left and you're getting on it' expression.

There's spiky fur on his ears from the rain! OMG. *faints and has to be carried to the paramedic station*

I've been to Fargo dozens of times and the zoo just never springs to mind. Doesn't feel like a town that would have a decent zoo. A pathetic side show maybe.

One day, when I'm immeasurably rich, I am going to tour the US & Canada by zoo & natural parkland. Fargo is now on the must-see list for their five (or more!) red pandas.

When I was in sixth grade the whole sixth grade class for the whole town had to do a report on a mammal. I initially chose the Narwhal and couldn't find enough data for a report. My friend chose the red panda and couldn't find enough data for her report either. Looks like things are changing for the red panda. Narwhals are still not very well studied.
