Japanese Macaque (Macaca fuscata) - OK, no humor here. This young monkey (about 2 or 3) was moving the big stick back and forth in the dirt and eating all the grubs he unearthed. How cool is that?

These are great! There is a Japanese proverb, "Even monkeys fall from trees", which your second photo exemplifies.

I also like the one with the young monkey rolling the log to find grubs. I feel compelled to share it with my Pilates trainer, because we spend a lot of time doing those same motions.

I don't know what the monkey above was doing, but there's something really poignant about that first photo.

The first photo is about motherhood and togetherness. It's about how two monkeys, together, can provide companionship and protectiveness. Together, they are one. As a unity, they are immune from all of life's ills.

Including that of another monkey attempting to poop on them from above.
