Assiniboine Park Zoo - Bears
Nov. 18th, 2009 07:09 pmEvery year, after the Winnipeg Folk Festival, I head over the local Winnipeg Zoo that goes by the odd name of "Assiniboine Park" for some reason. I really need to start doing it before the festival, as I tend to be too exhausted to really do a good job of after. Anyway, here are the photos.

American Black Bear (Ursus Americanus) - White black bear is cowed.

American Black Bear (Ursus Americanus) - "I just want to say that the prevailing opinion of us as large hirsute honey-obsessed ursines is a bit insulting. We also enjoy nuts, fruit and marshmallows as flung by fleeing campers."

American Black Bear (Ursus Americanus) - Uh oh. Can't stop the flow.

American Black Bear (Ursus Americanus) - Water doesn't move on its own you know. Niagra falls has about 100 bears helping out.

American Black Bear (Ursus Americanus) - Drippy the bear!

American Black Bear (Ursus Americanus) - Bears are also used in water heaters to help push water through the rest of the house. (That's why it's so big (they eat the fish in the water))

American Black Bear (Ursus Americanus) - Office buildings often under-staffed with water bears, which is why the water doesn't move very fast on the top floors.

American Black Bear (Ursus Americanus) - "Mmmm, bear soup."

American Black Bear (Ursus Americanus) - The optimist sees this as bonus tongue length. The pessimist knows he'll bite it.

American Black Bear (Ursus Americanus) - Bear buzzed in early. Doesn't know the answer to the question. Quite embearrassed.
