A while ago, I added a special long distance plan to my land line, specifically for international calls.
See, in the US, at least, there is amazing infrastructure in wireless telephony. I can make calls to most anywhere in the US for free on my basic cell plan.

However, for some very strange reasons, phone calls that go beyond the US borders get very expensive (maybe they get heavier, things going into Texas get bigger, so why not?). So, I make my US calls on my cell phone. However, it made sense to make my international calls on my land line. Now, it's been a while since I did that, so when I made a few calls earlier, I was surprised to find the bill was for the old, non-special rates.

I called ATT to complain, and they decided to not only re-enroll me in the plan, but to also reduce the rate for me as of last month.

International calls are suddenly a *lot* more affordable, and the bill that almost made my heart stop has been retroactively corrected.

Yay.
