Jester Park
Oct. 18th, 2012 08:01 pmBefore I left Iowa, I took a few hikes in parks I'd not yet visited. Jester park was one up on the North side of town, and was supposed to be a group hike with the Sierra Club. As it turned out, I was the only one that showed up. (Not sure what happened to the organizer. Bears maybe?)
Anyway, the small set is here.
Here is my favorite:

It's really hard to get this sort of shot handheld. I was lucky.

One of the neat things about insects that I keep forgetting when I'm actually shooting is how their shadows appear on the leaves.

Shortly after this shot, the daddy long legs successfully ambushed the damselfly, boxed it up and shipped it to Australia. Such a prankster.

The lake was two inches deeper before the bison climbed in.

Tails as rotary tools.
