Catalina Canyon
Oct. 21st, 2012 11:37 amAnother set of photos from 2010. This was a hike "around" Cataline Canyon. I had injured my right knee many years ago, and when I hike in elevation, I need knee support or I run the risk of being unable to complete the journey. When this was described as a hike along the bottom of the canyon where water collects to create oases in the desert, I never thought that there would be much elevation to worry about.
I was wrong.
Fortunately, my family was understanding and I was able to go slow and eventually get back down to the road where things were level.
Anyway, there's not a lot of photos in this set because I was distracted by pain and more interested in getting to somewhere I was more mobile than in pushing buttons.
Here is my favorite:

I don't do much landscape shots, but I do like how the Arizona mountains couple with the layers of city smog to make hazy layers

The haze also does neat things to the sun.

Sometimes you can position yourself just right. This would have made a great HDR shot.

Something about cacti just makes me want to turn them into black and white.

Frankly, I don't know why their race and religion mattered so much in the American politics of the 1950's.
