Post-Thanksgiving photos
Nov. 28th, 2012 11:40 amThe Sunday after Thanksgiving,
mizzlaurajean,
davidschroth and their okapi had a small gathering and I brought my new camera. This was my first attempt to use it in low light without flash assistance. I found it bit difficult to focus at times, but no worse than my previous camera. Though, it must be noted that the bigger the resolution, the more focus issues show up as problems.
I was able to correct for some of these issues with some magic I recently figured out in AfterShot Pro. I couldn't do much for the colour, as there were multiple indoor bulbs with different colour temperatures, so fixing that would have required lots of work and special gelling. However, I could do basic white balance tweaks after the fact. This is where my colour blindness really is a problem. I know intellectually that there are colour problems on the highlights, but I can't really see them, so I can't do a more in-depth regional correction. Hopefully they look OK.
The set is here.
This is my favorite:

Little kids' fingers sure are bendy.

This was a rescued shot by the magic in AfterShot Pro. It was originally quite out of focus because she was fairly far away at the time.

Rockets sure are popular.

Waiting for food to arrive.

Also waiting for food to arrive.

Rockets sure are fun.

I love how modern technology works to light the people using it. Now I just need an app that syncs with my camera so I can adjust the colour temperature of the light when I hit the shutter button.

Sleepy.

I think she was getting tired of having her picture taken.

I've been kind of obsessed by laptop screens (and now tablets and phones) as a source of fill light; it's neat.
