Blank Park Zoo - 2013-03
Apr. 30th, 2013 08:08 pmIn March, I took a trip to Iowa. Parts of it went well, parts did not. (That's where I first got sick, which lingered for much longer than I would have liked.) However, for a few hours, I went to the Blank Park Zoo. It was a cold March, and since I wasn't feeling 100%, I didn't go outside much. I did, however, get some decent shots of my favorite frog place. A lot of the frogs were back, which was nice as compared to a year ago. They also had some new fish that were fun.
The set is here.
Here's my favorite:

I'm not thrilled with the eyes, but I like how the tongue turned out.

Blue Poison Dart Frog (Dendrobates azureus) - "We waits here for da word."

Blue Poison Dart Frog (Dendrobates azureus) - "Youz can waits. I've had it. I'm going in."

Panamanian golden frog (Atelopus zeteki) - "A little buggie told me to expect trouble."

Panamanian golden frog (Atelopus zeteki) - "Get into position."

Panamanian golden frog (Atelopus zeteki) - "Moving, boss"

Yellow and Blue Poison Dart Frog (Dendrobates tinctorius) - "Lieutenant to chief... the squad is ready, when they rumble, we've got them."

Clown Fish (Amphiprioninae) - The hostages await their rescue

Lion Fish (Pterois) - The hostages' mother waits as well.

Golden-headed Lion Tamarin (Leontopithecus chrysomelas) - Newspaper editors are all a-tingle.

Red Panda (Ailurus fulgens) - So, it turns out that some stories don't end with a satisfactory resolution. Some of them end with a red panda sticking their tongue out at you.
Sorry.

Date: 2013-05-01 10:53 am (UTC)I'm pretty sure red panda in the last photo is Berry, who was born at the Detroit Zoo. Her mama has had two litters since Berry left us, and judging by how well she's getting along with her new partner, we have expectations of another litter in the fall.

Depending on the circumstance, a red panda sticking her tongue out at us is a satisfactory resolution.
