Feb. 1st, 2007 05:47 pmContinuing my photo sets from flickr.
Here is my next set. I visited the Henry Doorly Zoo for the first time this fall. I didn't know what to expect, but it was one of the last nice days. I mostly did outside shots, planning on inside shots this winter. It turns out that this zoo is huge. I could spend four whole days there and *maybe* see everything. Then again, I go slowly.
If you're interested in the whole thing, here is the set otherwise, continue below for highlights.

Eye of the tiger - cream of the fight

Leaf under a tiger - It was a windy day, and the leaves were skuttling about.

Fishing Cat - Behind highly reflective glass. I think it worked out OK though.

"I've got a secret" - There's a "budgie experience" of which I was doubtful. However, it turned out to be one of the coolest parts of the zoo. You walk into an enclosure with hundreds of budgies in it. It's all "flap flap flap, twitter twitter twitter" unless they all go silent at once.

Flappy Budgie - I really like how this one turned out

Mmmmm, reticulation - See, this is exactly why we're having problems breeding giraffes. Sure, we can breed them, but we just won't get anywhere until we can stop them from eating one another!

Elephant - The elephant was too big to be impressive in total, but I think the bits look neat.

Prairie Dog - Yummy

Polar bear (with leaf)

Sun Bear - They can climb really well.
