Photoset - Blank Park Zoo - 2007-

This last set brings me up to date! Last Friday, I went to the local zoo and spent some time with the indoor animals. (It's been WAY too cold to do any outside stuff.) I did the exhibits backwards, so I got to spend more time with the other critters.

From here on out, I will try to post to LJ shortly after I post to Flickr, so that things stay more in sync.

Here is the set.




Jellyfish - Classic pose


Pigeon - This multi-coloured pigeon landed above a fish tank while I was taking fish photos. I made a quick adjustment and got this. I think it turned out OK.


Bubbles - This is the bubbling system in the Amazon exhibit. It's generally hard to take photos of this one, but the bubbles seem to work.


Fruit Bat - Since I'm trying to not use flash in dark regions unless necessary, I've found more interesting shots available. This is one of them.


Golden Frog - I'm finally getting better at taking photos of frogs. This species is being threatened by the chytridiomycete fungus, as many frogs in the world. Luckilly, this particular one is safe, as the fungus can be treated in captivity.


Tiger Salamander Getting Ready to Pounce - Shhh, he's hunting me. (Unlike the salamanders of mythology, these guys only have four legs, have no scales, and prefer water to fire.)


Axolotl - Axolotl - According to Wikipedia, an Axolotl is like a salamander that never grows up. Maybe Lake Xochimilco is where Never Never Land is located?


Bird - This is the bird that was following me around.


Bird - I don't know what this bird is called, but it's sure pretty.


Gouldian Finches - I just liked the symmetry here.
