Red Cornsnake (Pantherophis guttatus)_14

This snake’s scales overlap everywhere but on the head. This keeps costs low when trying to find the source of a leak.

A) ;o) ;o) (But you can see the source of the leak — it's at the front of the head, aimed directly forward.)

B) In Maryland, we mostly have the closely-related Black Rat Snake. I've been told that these are feisty, but the ones I've encountered have been remarkably calm and easy to get along with. I chatted with this one — http://jonsinger.org/pictures/animals/reptiles/7172c.snakeypoo.10c.jpg — for about 20 minutes. Mind you, it was a rather one-sided chat; but you expect that.
