From my second trip to the Phoenix Zoo

Masked Lapwing - Large version, because I like this shot.

Fairy Bluebird - Someone is very hungry

Bali Mynah - Finally, a good shot with the crest fully extended.

Metallic Starling - I've no idea what's going on here. The last time I checked, birds were supposed to have beaks.

Cotton Pygmy-goose - This is a goose, not a duck. I have no idea what makes a goose "pygmy", but the sign says it, therefore it is true.

Bird - "That leaf is vitally important to the Revolution"

Green Oropendola - Their sign says that these birds have a "unique" call. That is an understatement. To say that these birds yodel would also be an understatement.

Black-Throated Magpie Jay - Here, you can see the black throat, the jayness, and the magpieness. You can also see the amazingly long tail.

Superb Fruit Dove - Pretty birdy

Burrowing Owl - A well chosen perch.

Date: 2007-03-02 06:39 am (UTC)I didn't know you were colorblind (or color deficient) My husband is also. Which do you have problems seeing? Red/green or blue/green? Being color blind doesnt mean you dont see colors at all. Red/green is the most predominant. You see those combinations of colors as mud according to Mike. You may have a hard time differentiating shades of colors too.

Date: 2007-03-02 06:44 am (UTC)There is also a photon-density component. If the light is bright enough, I see colours "normally". It's like if it crosses a certain threshhold, red just leaps out at me. It has to be pretty bright for that to happen though.
