San Antonio Zoo - March 2010
Nov. 7th, 2012 11:01 amIn March 2010, I took a mental health trip to get away from my job and the Winter for a while. My friend Cat in Austin, TX offered to give me a place to stay and it was lovely. In addition to seeing someone I hadn't seen in far too long, I wanted to visit the local zoos. The Austin zoo has been mentioned previously, but one day was spent on San Antonio.
The San Antiono zoo was interesting in that it felt like a smaller Phoenix zoo, but with some animals that I had never seen before. I was, sadly, again thwarted in my attempt to get good photos of a kinkajou. Critters that like to sleep during the day are tricky. However, I did achieve my life long dream of getting to see a gavial (best crocodilian ever). I did not get to feed it, but I have hopes that I'll get the opportunity some other time. I remember reading about the gavial in the World Book encyclopedia when I was probably 7 and thinking it was awesome. Around 30 years later... it's still awesome.
The set is here. My favorite, of course, is the gavial.
