gaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhh!
Jul. 21st, 2005 09:08 pmI've heard of burning a candle at both ends, never seen one with four ends before.
I am back from Winnipeg, safely (a while ago).
We are having a major development push at work, which is a lot of fun, but I am very busy with it.
I am also semi-project managing about four other work projects. The amazing thing is that they are
all moving forward and reasonably on time.
I have completed a new circuit in the basement, and in the process found out that the wall down there was worse than I thought. On the plus side, the stars aligned, and I am able to get the repair done for $1000 less than normal. Still more than I want to pay, but I couldn't say no to the discount on something I had to do anyway. The negative there is that they are doing the work tomorrow, so I spent the afternoon moving everything in the basement upstairs.
See, part of the job is demolishing the "finished" portion of the basement, as it was finished without waterproofing. So now I have mold under the finished bits. I am very pleased to getting it dealt with, but not happy about having to spend the next week or so sweeping and bleaching the basement.
On another end of the candle, I have just dealt with a hack attempt on my home server. If you sent an email to me lately and I have not responded, send it again, just to be sure. I *think* I got them all, but I'm not 100% certain.
On the last end of the candle, I have finally been the store and cooked again. (It's been a long long time.) I should post my recipe for soy steeped chicken soonish.
Oh yeah, and I'm on call this week and weekend. (And I'm sick.)
So, that's my week. How's yours?

Date: 2005-07-21 08:49 pm (UTC)Am trying to pack and get ready to move next weekend. Had to basically hunt down my landlord to get him to fill out my verification of residency form.
Just started working 40 hours a week since my coworker broke her ankle and if I didn't start working full time we would be severely understaffed. Of course, this is all temporary anyway.
Am feeling kinda sick lately too.

Date: 2005-07-22 06:00 am (UTC)Getting my reiki practice set up has been a flurry of insanity. Its pretty well ready now though, and I've already begun treating people. No total strangers yet, mostly curious acquaintances and friends. But its a start. I now have the space, the equipement, and business cards. My gift certificates were supposed to be ready 2 weeks ago, but considering they're being designed for free, I can't complain about the lag. Likewise, the posters I asked for. The website is starting to take shape too. (www dot montrealreiki dot com)
I have a deal in negotiations with my gym to do a day of treatments there in September. If it works out, I'll try to contact other gyms as well.
All this means that work on my thesis has ground to a screeching halt. Again. But it matters so little right now, with everything else going on...
24 days until I leave my store...though they've talked me in to staying on for 2 days a week now, after taking a couple weeks off. It makes sense...I still need some steady income until I have a larger client base. And since my boss will be going into rehab, I feel less bad about staying on a little longer (since I won't have to see her). And they really do need me there. 2 people gave their notice at the same time yesterday, which when you only have 8 employees is a bigger problem then it should be otherwise. Since the bosslady is in her own little wine-soaked world, I'll be doing the itnerviewing and hiring on my own...which will be interesting to say the least.
So thats me in a nutshell.
